Justin Marks Starting on the Pole for Sundays Garden State ARCA 150 Presented by the American Red Cross
Quickest in Practice, Marks Continues a Fast Saturday With a Pole Winning Run
Millville, NJ (August 14, 2010)- Not straying from the path he followed during the final practice session on Saturday afternoon, Justin Marks steered his No. 32 Construct Corps Dodge Charger to the top of the charts during Menages Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Marks, fastest in the aforementioned practice session, laid down a lap of 82.355 seconds, ahead of second place qualifier Tim George, Jr. and his lap time of 82.628 seconds.
Saturdays quick time is Justins third career ARCA Racing Series pole, the first of this season. The pole winning effort and quick lap times all day were not a huge surprise to Marks with his road course racing background, coupled with a fast racecar put together by his Win-Tron Racing crew.
When we come to the road course its what I expect to do, with my road course experience. This weekend came at a really good time for us because we lost some ground in the championship last weekend. We came here wanting to get the pole and lead the most laps and win the race. Im fortunate that the guys put together a really good race car and its pretty easy to drive, so I wont have to fight it too hard.
Marks began the weekend with an unfortunate tangle on the racetrack with the No. 02 (Josh Williams) during his second practice run, damaging the left front fender. Repairs to the Construct Corps machine were needed before Marks could continue, and the Win-Tron Racing team put all hands on deck to get the 29-year-old back on track.
Rebounding from the first practice session's woes, the team made a few minor adjustments to the No. 32 to fit Justin's driving style. Marks remained second quickest on the charts until five minutes prior to the end of the session, when he scorched the track in 82.534 seconds.
Gaining extra points in the qualifying session, Marks closed the gap on current points leader Craig Goess, now sitting just 15 points out of the lead, and just five markers behind second place Frank Kimmel. Coverage for the Garden State ARCA 150 presented by the American Red Cross begins with the Inside ARCA pre-race show at 11:30 am EST, followed by 150 miles of racing. About Justin Marks
California native Justin Marks began his love of racing after attending local races and the Indianapolis 500 with his father at the age of 14.
